In a long and occasionally interesting legal career (to date), I have had occasion to see some intriguing sights from my office window.
I once saw my boss's car pop out of park and start to roll backwards out of the parking lot. I ran out out of the building and jumped in the car (he was bright enough to leave the door unlocked) and stopped the car before it rolled into Farmington Rd.
A few years later I saw a co-worker's Fiero being broken into by two young fellows. I walked out and broke that up (which is not quite as courageous but fully as stupid as it sounds).
After joining a firm with a 16th floor office,on an otherwise peaceful Friday afternoon in the summer, I saw a dozen Southfield police cars pull up to our building to respond to a shooting/wounding/murder/suicide 4 floors below our suite. We stayed away from our office corridor walls and 4 hours later police escorted us out of the building through the underground parking garage.
Twice I have had to terminate phone calls to call the police to report car thefts in progress.
I think I much prefer the view from my current office, above. The ducks, geese, herons and turtles might not always get along, but Michigan Criminal Code is never violated.
