Thanks to Mary Catherine Rentz for providing this picture of Sheldon Miller and Joe Lujan, circa—-sometime before last summer, when they played for their respective firms in the Belle Isle Lawyer Softball League. Shel for Lopatin Miller, and Joe for Plunkett & Cooney (in the days before they got rid of the &).
According to LexFugit.com correspondent Tom Calcatera (Bernstein & Bernstein alum, currently of the Mike Morse law firm) the Belle Isle branch of the Lawyers League no longer exists, though there is still a current version of the old Softball City Lawyers League, which plays in Mt. Clemens, and is run by Judge Mark Switalski and Judge Boedeker.
It would be nice to revive the league on Belle Isle. Mike Morse v Hewson van Hellemont would draw big crowds, especially if the firm’s principals played.
Then, o
nto Honest John's bar, just off the Bridge for tomfoolery with secretaries and friends!
